Day 1 - Port Moresby

Upon arrival at Port Moresby Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to our comfortable hotel. In the evening, join us for an orientation meeting to receive an overview of the unforgettable experiences that lie ahead, followed by a delightful welcome dinner. Relax and settle in for an overnight stay in Port Moresby.

Day 2 : Pom City Tour & Flight to Mt Hagen

Today, we’ll delve into the cultural richness of Port Moresby with a visit to the National Museum and Art Gallery, where traditional artifacts tell the stories of Papua New Guinea’s diverse heritage. Alternatively, enjoy a peaceful stroll through the Port Moresby Nature Park, filled with the region’s vibrant flora and unique wildlife. Take in the coastal views as we explore local highlights, from the Ela Beach Craft Market ( if available)  to historical landmarks like the Bomana War Cemetery, offering a window into the past and present of this fascinating city. Later in the day, we’ll catch a flight to Mt Hagen to continue our adventure.

Day 3: Hagen Tour

Experience the awe-inspiring culture of the Huli Wigmen, known for their striking wigs made of human hair, painted faces, and elaborate traditional attire. As we visit this incredible tribe, you’ll have the chance to learn about their unique customs and witness their captivating performances. Day 4: Drive Mt Hagen to Goroka

This unforgettable experience offers a rare glimpse into the mystical traditions of Papua New Guinea. We aim to arrive in Goroka by mid-afternoon, ready to dive deeper into the rich cultural tapestry of the region

Day 5 : Goroka Town

We’ll begin with a fascinating coffee tour in Goroka, where you’ll visit local plantations, learn about this valuable cash crop, and understand its vital economic impact on the local community. Following this, enjoy a stroll through Goroka town before we make our way to the Showgrounds for the vibrant Piikini Show. Here, children proudly display traditional bilas (decorative costumes), celebrating the deep-rooted pride and cultural heritage of the people.

Later in the afternoon, we’ll also visit an excellent small museum that showcases local natural history, WWII history, and ethnic cultures, offering a deeper insight into the region’s fascinating past. This evening, we’ll gather to enjoy a meal together and reflect on the day’s memorable experiences. This day promises both cultural enrichment and a unique glimpse into the heart of Goroka’s community.

Day 6 Saturday - Goroka Show

Today marks the second day of the annual Goroka Show – Papua New Guinea’s largest singsing and one of the year’s most significant cultural events. Over 100 tribes from across the country gather in a vibrant, feathered celebration of culture, ritual, song, and dance. This event, dating back to 1957, was originally organized by Australian patrol officers, known locally as ‘kiaps, who invited local tribes to come together in a display of unity and tradition.

Your local guide will introduce you to the show grounds and its various attractions, after which you’ll have the freedom to wander and enjoy each performance at your own pace, fully immersing yourself in the rich cultural tapestry of Papua New Guinea.

Day 7 Sunday - Travel to Rabaul

Today is primarily a travel day, as we make our way to Kokopo. We’ll need to travel back through Port Moresby, as all flights operate on a hub-and-spoke system via Port Moresby. Day 8 - Duke of York Isands

Today, prepare for an exciting exploration of the neighboring islands, each with its own unique personality, customs, and cultures, promising an authentic encounter with the heart of Papua New Guinea. Our ultimate destination is the stunning Duke of York Islands. Along the way, keep an eye out for wildlife, as these crystal-clear Pacific waters are home to playful dolphins and the elusive dugongs.

Upon arrival, a welcoming local village will greet us warmly, inviting you to experience traditional weaving, cooking, and fishing. We’ll enjoy a village stay on the islands, offering a true immersion into local life and culture. Embark on a guided tour of the island with your group leader, then unwind and embrace the leisurely pace of island living. This promises to be a deeply enriching experience, surrounded by the natural beauty and warm hospitality of the Duke of York Islands.

Day 9 - Island Life and Back to Kokopo Beach Bungalows

Later, we’ll board our boat back to the resort just in time for lunch and a chance to freshen up. The rest of the afternoon is yours to spend at leisure – unwind, explore the resort, or simply relax and soak in the beauty of your surroundings.

Day 10, 11 and 12 - Festival Days

Day 13 - Depart PNG

As we prepare to depart, transfers to Tokua Airport will be arranged for all guests, ensuring a seamless and comfortable journey.
